My Peep Obsession

Anyone who knows me will tell you, from time to time, I get a little obsessed with certain things. The Bachelor, Christmas lights, Cole Haan shoes, shiny objects…. Much to the disdain of my coworkers and loved ones, I will not shut up about it until my craving for whatever it is has been satisfied.

Timed appropriately with the coming weekend, this week, my obsession is Peeps. Everyone knows what Peeps are, so I don’t need to elaborate, but to me, it’s amazing that such simple little treats can make me so nostalgic.

I blame my father.

Starting when I was little, my dad would bring home these sugar coated puffs of marshmallow-y perfection in their colorful boxes, sending me into confectionary happiness. I’m sure my mother appreciated the resulting hours of hyperactivity. To this day, my dad still buys them for me, leaving them prominently displayed on the kitchen counter for when I visit my parents house.

Of course, Peeps have evolved since I was a kid back in the 80’s - they’re now chocolate dipped, come in multiple colors and, much to my disdain, are available for several holidays. I’m sorry - I just can’t bring myself to eat a Peep Christmas tree, or Peep pumpkin. It’s just not the same.

So, to share my love of Peeps with you all, here are some cute, delicious ways to eat them or include them in your favorite foods/drinks as we mark Easter weekend.

Check out these “Sweet Peep Kabobs” courtesy of LaurenConrad.com (how cute is this!?):

Or how about a recipe to drink your Peeps from SheKnows.com? Looks delicious to me!!!

Ingredients:
 •1-1/2 ounces fluffed marshmallow vodka
•1/2 ounce vanilla syrup, plus extra for rim
 •1 ounce cream

Writing this post has actually made my craving worse - and I’m now headed to CVS to stock up on some Peeps to share with the office! Hopefully - I can also find a Peeptini to kick off the weekend - anyone know of any good spots? Let me know!!!
